Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Ports and Marine Engineering to join the National Maritime Practice Group. This role can be based in Irvine, San Francisco, San Diego, Miami, Portland, Houston or Tampa.

The position offers both part-time and full-time openings and requires leading multi-disciplinary teams on port, marine and coastal projects. The candidate will supervise staff, oversee design/inspection work, manage schedules and budgets, and engage in client interviews and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited program.
  • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in engineering with marine/coastal design experience.
  • Professional Engineering license (multi-state preferred) or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise technical staff, engineers and task leads; track workloads and forecast.
  • Mentor staff to grow into project leads and senior technical positions.
  • Prepare calculations, cost estimates, drawings, specs and reports/studies.
  • Track milestone progress and PS&E submissions.
  • Review permits to ensure regulatory compliance and sound engineering practice.
  • Perform QA/QC checks for marine facility projects including cargo terminals and DoD/private clients.
  • Prepare alternatives analyses for repair projects and capital programs.
  • Lead cross-functional teams on large-scale projects and multiple mid-level projects.
