Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Ports and Marine Engineering to join our National Maritime Practice Group. This position can be based out of the following offices: Irvine+San Francisco+San Diego-CA, Miami-FL, Portland-OR, Houston-TX, Tampa-FL.

The role provides subject matter leadership for the design, construction, and inspection of port, marine, and intermodal facilities, ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet safety and industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited program.
  • 10+ years of post-education experience in engineering with marine/coastal design experience.
  • Professional Engineer license required (multi-state preferred) or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the work of technical staff, engineers and task leads; track workloads and forecasts.
  • Mentor staff to support growth to project leads and senior technical positions.
  • Prepare or oversee calculations, cost estimates, drawings, specs and reports.
  • Manage PS&E submissions and milestone progress.
  • Assist with permit reviews for compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Perform QA/QC checks for marine facility projects including various cargo terminals and DoD/private clients.
  • Develop alternatives analyses for repairs and capital programs.
  • Lead cross-functional teams on large-scale projects with internal/external collaboration.
  • Coordinate multi-discipline teams (civil, structural, geotechnical, electrical, etc.).
  • Provide engineer-of-record support and high-level technical guidance.
