Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Ports and Marine Engineering to join our National Maritime Practice Group. This role may be based in Miami, Irvine, San Francisco, San Diego, Portland, Houston, or Tampa.

The position involves supervising engineers and staff, leading complex port/marine projects, and ensuring high-quality design and construction outcomes. Travel may be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited program
• 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in marine/coastal design
• Professional Engineer license required (multi-state preferred) or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Proficiency in technical computations and engineering principles for ports and marine structures
• Strong technical writing and proficiency with engineering software and tools

Responsibilities

• Supervise technical staff and track workloads.
• Mentor staff for growth toward project leads and senior roles.
• Prepare calculations, cost estimates, drawings, specs, and reports.
• Manage PS&E submissions and milestone progress.
• Review permits for regulatory compliance and sound engineering practice.
• Perform QA/QC reviews for marine facility projects.
• Lead proposals, client interviews, and scope negotiations.
• Develop client base for marine, port, and coastal services.
• Maintain safety and QA/QC adherence across projects.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams on large-scale projects.
