Job summary

WSP USA seeks an Assistant Vice President, Ports and Marine Engineering to lead projects in the National Maritime Practice Group. The role can be based in multiple U.S. offices including Houston-TX.

The position offers part-time and full-time options and requires strong leadership and technical expertise in port and coastal structures. Responsibilities include supervising staff, delivering high-quality designs and analyses, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, and pursuing new business

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited program.
  • 10+ years of post-education experience in marine and coastal design (rehabilitation and new design).
  • Professional Engineering license required (multi-state preferred) or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technical computations for ports and marine structures.
  • Strong technical writing, engineering software skills, and fundamentals incl. statics.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, REVIT and SAP2000; supervise staff in these tools.
  • Ability to obtain TWIC card and familiarity with related regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise technical staff, engineers and leads; track workloads and forecasts.
  • Mentor staff for growth to project leads and senior positions.
  • Prepare calculations, cost estimates, drawings, specifications and reports.
  • Oversee PS&E milestones and permit reviews for compliance and quality.
  • Perform QA/QC checks for marine projects across cargo terminals and facilities.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams across Federal, State, and local projects.
  • Engage in client meetings, proposals, and scope negotiations.
  • Develop client base for high-level marine, port, and coastal services.
