WSP is seeking an experienced Assistant Vice President, Electrical Engineer to join our Property & Buildings team in California. The role focuses on complex building projects across education, civic, and commercial sectors, guiding design through construction close‑out.

You will lead electrical design efforts, mentor teams, and foster client relationships while ensuring safety, code compliance, and quality across all project phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• 10+ years of relevant post‑education experience as an Electrical Engineer.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical design for building projects, especially education/institutional sectors.
• Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
• Experience with electrical planning, design, and construction management on renovation and new builds.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple projects, and deliver high‑quality results.
• Well‑established local professional network.
• Commitment to workplace safety and policy compliance.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, review, and approve electrical design plans, ensuring code compliance.
• Apply advanced electrical engineering techniques across all project phases.
• Plan and incorporate future‑ready design strategies for safety, functionality, and longevity.
• Support management of electrical design and construction activities from inception to close‑out.
• Oversee and mentor cross‑functional engineering teams on mid‑ to large‑scale projects.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, reports, calculations, drawings, specs, and presentations.
• Provide input on pursuits and proposals to support business development and client interviews.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and collaborate with leadership and external partners.
• Exercise ethical decision‑making in alignment with WSP’s Code of Conduct.
