Job summary

WSP seeks an Assistant Vice President, Electrical Engineer to lead complex building electrical design from concept through construction within the California Property & Buildings team.

You will guide design efforts, mentor engineers, and help grow client relationships while ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality outcomes across education, civic, and commercial sectors in California.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• 10+ years of relevant post‑education experience as an Electrical Engineer.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical design for building projects, including education/institutional/industrial/commercial sectors.
• Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
• Experience with electrical planning, design, and construction management across renovation and new‑build projects.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple concurrent projects, and deliver high‑quality results.
• Well‑established professional presence with a strong local network.
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and compliance with policies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, review, and approve electrical design plans, ensuring code compliance.
• Apply advanced electrical engineering techniques across all project phases.
• Plan and incorporate future‑ready design strategies for safety, functionality, resiliency, and long‑term performance.
• Participate from project inception through completion, supporting management of electrical design and construction activities.
• Oversee and mentor cross‑functional engineering teams on mid‑ to large‑scale projects, including budgets and schedules.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, including reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, and presentations.
• Provide input on pursuits and proposals, supporting business development and client interviews.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and collaborate with internal leadership and external partners.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making in alignment with Code of Conduct.
