WSP is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Electrical Engineer to join our Property & Buildings team in California. The role combines technical leadership with client engagement and business development to grow our practice across education, civic, and commercial sectors.

The successful candidate will lead electrical design across the full project lifecycle from concept through construction, mentor teams, manage budgets, and build strong client relationships within California offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering.
• 10+ years of post-education experience as an Electrical Engineer.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical design for building projects in education/industrial/commercial sectors.
• Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
• Experience with electrical planning, design, and construction management across renovation and new-build projects.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple concurrent projects, and deliver high-quality results.
• Well-established professional presence with a strong local network.
• Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with policies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, review, and approve electrical design plans per codes.
• Apply advanced electrical engineering techniques across all project phases.
• Plan future-ready design strategies addressing safety, functionality, and long-term performance.
• Support management of electrical design and construction activities from inception to finish.
• Mentor cross-functional teams on budgets, schedules, quality control, and execution.
• Prepare and review technical documentation including reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, and presentations.
• Provide technical input on pursuits and proposals to support business development.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships with internal and external partners.
• Adhere to the Code of Conduct and corporate policies.
