Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority is seeking an AVP, Commissioning Executive to guide commissioning across complex transit and rail projects. The role operates within the Delivery Service Office, with broad decision authority and budget responsibility, and requires coordinating across engineering and regulatory teams.

The position allows one telework day per week and may require travel to other MTA sites. A strong technical background in commissioning and program management is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
• Master’s degree is preferred.
• Minimum 14 years of related experience.
• 8+ years in a management or project manager role.
• Professional Engineer or Architect desirable.
• PMP CCM CCP certifications preferred.
• Experience managing commissioning for major construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Guide and make quick decisions evaluating facilities and systems.
• Accountable for commissioning processes and project performance verification.
• Interface with regulatory authorities on safety documentation.
• Provide final recommendations to Project Leadership on escalated items.
• Oversee the commissioning program and transition from construction to operations.
• Foster research and development of commissioning strategies and training.
• Manage commissioning teams across disciplines.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction or Project Management, Facilities Management, or a related field

Master's degree preferred

Licensed Professional Engineer or Registered Architect desirable
