Job summary

Farm Family is seeking an AVP, P&C Underwriting - Commercial to lead strategic underwriting direction for its Commercial Lines portfolio. The role supervises daily operations, mentors staff, and collaborates with actuarial, data analytics, claims, and compliance to strengthen profitability and risk controls.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in P&C underwriting with leadership experience, and possess CPCU/ARM/AFIS/AINS designations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 10+ years P&C commercial underwriting experience.
• 5–10 years of progressive leadership/management experience.
• Industry designations: CPCU/ARM/AFIS/AINS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute underwriting strategies aligned with company goals and market conditions.
• Lead underwriting staff with focus on talent development and performance management.
• Collaborate with actuarial, data analytics, claims, compliance, and IT to support governance and capabilities.
• Oversee referrals, risk assessment, and binding authority and ensure adherence to guidelines.
• Mentor team members and manage stakeholder expectations throughout projects.
