Job summary

WSP USA seeks an ambitious Assistant Vice President, Civil/Highway Engineer for the Southern CA Transportation team. The role supports multiple Southern California offices, leading design, QA/QC, and project delivery for state DOT and municipal clients.

You will mentor staff, foster client relationships, and drive pursuits while coordinating with multiple design disciplines to ensure on-time, within-budget project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; California licensure preferred.
• 10+ years post-education experience in civil design and engineering.
• Engineer license required (California preferred).
• Strong knowledge of civil construction laws and project compliance.
• Experience with a range of design software and technical writing.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil/highway design and plan production for DOT and municipal projects.
• Manage projects, schedules, budgets, and profitability.
• Provide QA/QC oversight and guide staff on technical tasks.
• Mentor staff, maintain client relationships, and pursue new opportunities.
• Coordinate with structures, hydraulics, traffic, and utilities disciplines.
• Prepare technical proposals, estimates, and design calculations.
