Job summary

WSP in Southern California is seeking an experienced Assistant Vice President, Civil/Highway Engineer to lead major state DOT projects from offices in Los Angeles, Irvine, San Bernardino, or Riverside. You will guide civil/highway design, plan production, drainage design, and PD&E work while mentoring a growing team.

This leadership role requires a California professional engineer license, 10+ years of civil design experience, and proven ability to manage scope, budget, and client

Qualifications

• - Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
• - 10+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering and civil design.
• - Engineer license required (California preferred).
• - Proficiency with civil engineering principles, design/build, and permitting.
• - Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and program/construction management.
• - Knowledge of civil construction laws, codes, regulations, and compliance.
• - Strong technical writing and ability to produce deliverables and QA/QC.
• - Ability to lead teams, manage client relations, and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Lead Civil/Highway design team development and project execution.
• Mentor staff and assign work, guide long-range plans, and staffing.
• Maintain client relationships and expand business in Southern CA.
• Pursue new opportunities and develop proposals with local ties.
• Manage projects: schedule, budget, and profitability; produce PS&E.
• Coordinate with disciplines (structures, hydraulics, traffic, utilities).
• Lead design tasks for conceptual to final design, construction plans, specs.
• Ensure QA/QC and adherence to policies and standards.
