Job summary

WSP seeks an Assistant Vice President, Civil/Highway Engineer to lead the Southern CA Transportation design team in Los Angeles, Irvine, and other CA offices. You will guide highway, roadway, and PD&E efforts, manage major state DOT projects, and drive QA/QC and staffing initiatives.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in civil design, CA-licensed engineering credentials, and a proven track record in delivering complex infrastructure programs with strong client interaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of post-education experience in engineering/civil design.
• Engineer license required (California preferred).
• Strong knowledge of civil infrastructure design and permits.
• Experience with planning, design, and construction management of highway projects.
• Familiarity with codes, regulations, and QA/QC processes.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
• Proven leadership and client-relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead Civil/Highway design teams on major projects.
• Manage projects: schedule, budget, and profitability.
• Develop Plans, Specifications & Estimates (PS&E).
• Coordinate with structures, hydraulics, traffic, utilities, etc.
• Mentor staff and allocate work assignments.
• Engage in pursuits and maintain client relationships.
• Ensure QA/QC compliance and safety standards.
• Travel as required by project needs.
