Job summary

WSP in San Bernardino, CA is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Civil Engineer to lead transportation and infrastructure projects across multiple sites. You will provide technical leadership, develop plans, and manage budgets, schedules, and teams.

The role requires a PE license and 10+ years of experience with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS tools, and strong communication with clients and regulators. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or closely related field.
• 10+ years of post-education engineering experience.
• Civil Engineer license (multi-state preferred).
• Proficiency in civil design, permitting, and project work.
• Strong knowledge of construction laws, codes, and compliance.
• Advanced technical writing and design software skills.
• Experience with multidisciplinary coordination and client interaction.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for due diligence, design, permitting, and construction of infrastructure projects.
• Lead multi-site projects, manage budgets, schedules, and personnel.
• Coach and mentor staff; ensure QA/QC and safety compliance.
• Develop construction plans, specs, and cost estimates; coordinate with owners and sub-consultants.
• Oversee advanced technologies and modeling techniques for civil design.
• Review permit applications and engineering plans for regulatory compliance.
• Meet with public or private entities to discuss engineering challenges.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations of findings and recommendations.
• Grow the client base for high-level civil engineering services.
