Job summary

WSP is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Civil/Highway Engineer for our Southern California Transportation team. Based in LA/Irvine/San Bernardino/Riverside offices, you will lead civil/highway design and project management on major DOT and municipal projects.

You will mentor staff, manage staffing plans, and drive QA/QC across disciplines while cultivating client relationships and pursuing new opportunities. CA-licensed engineers with 10+ years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of post education experience in engineering and civil design.
• Engineering license required; California preferred.
• Proficiency with civil engineering principles, design/build, permitting and project work-related issues.
• Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and program/construction management including rehab, reconstruction, new design and construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of civil construction laws, codes, regulations and compliance.
• Proven ability to lead design teams and manage client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of civil, highway and roadway projects and act as lead engineer or project manager on major state DOT and local agency projects.
• Manage projects, staff, budgets and schedules; oversee plans, specs and proposals.
• Coordinate with disciplines such as structures, hydraulics, traffic and utilities.
• Mentor staff and provide guidance; ensure QA/QC on deliverables.
• Develop technical proposals and labor estimates; contribute to pursuit activities.
• Maintain positive client relationships and seek new opportunities through local relationships.
