Qualifications

• 8+ years underwriting Builder’s Risk or construction property insurance.
• Strong knowledge of construction classes, project delivery and loss exposures.
• Experience with catastrophe modeling and risk evaluation for construction projects.
• Proven marketing and negotiation skills with broker relationships.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% and collaborate across teams.
• Bachelor’s degree; professional designations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite Builder’s Risk and course-of-construction projects, including ground-up commercial and residential work.
• Evaluate risk quality and propose terms, pricing, and portfolio balance.
• Develop and deepen relationships with construction-focused brokers and agents.
• Review engineering data and protective safeguards to assess risk quality.
• Collaborate with claims, risk engineering, and actuarial to achieve success.
• Share technical underwriter expertise and mentor junior underwriters.
