Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a hands-on Systems Integration & Avionics Engineer for the Huntsville, AL campus. You will support maintenance, integration, inspection, and troubleshooting of avionics, instrument systems, and related airborne electronics for small missiles and UAS platforms.

The role involves design, integration, testing, and production transition activities in a multidisciplinary team, with potential travel and deployment as mission needs evolve. U.S.

Qualifications

• Experience in avionics/instrumentation maintenance, repair, and integration for aviation platforms.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, manuals, and drawings.
• Experience with UAS or missile launcher systems preferred.
• Proficient with hand/power tools and electronic test equipment.
• Strong problem-solving and independent work capability.

Responsibilities

• Design and integrate new solutions as part of a prototype design team.
• Integrate avionics, sensors, or control systems into UAS platforms with installation and checks.
• Perform inspections, maintenance, calibration of avionics/instrument systems.
• Troubleshoot discrepancies using manuals, schematics, and test equipment.
• Maintain GSE and support safe launch capabilities.
• Conduct system testing, flight-line checks, and airworthiness validation.
• Transition prototypes to production and support post-fielding sustainment.
• Maintain records of maintenance and repair history.
• Assist in on-the-job training for junior engineers and technicians.
• Ensure safety and SOP compliance and prepare for field deployments.
