Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Systems Integration & Avionics Engineer to support maintenance, integration, inspection, and troubleshooting of small airborne missiles, UAS, and payload effectors. This role offers hands-on work across avionics, integration, and field operations in a prototype environment.

The ideal candidate will apply both theory and practical experience to ensure mission-ready, safe operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, avionics, aerospace, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience with avionics/instrumentation maintenance and integration.
• Experience reading wiring diagrams, schematics, and installation drawings.
• Experience with UAS or missile launcher systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and integrate new avionics solutions within a prototype design team.
• Integrate avionics, sensors, or control systems into UAS platforms with installation, wiring, mounting, alignment, configuration, documentation, and functional checks.
• Perform maintenance, calibration, and testing of avionics/instrument systems (navigation, communications, flight-control electronics, sensors, data links, power systems).
• Troubleshoot discrepancies using manuals, schematics, and test equipment.
• Lead on-the-job training for junior engineers and technicians.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, SOPs, and record-keeping standards.
