Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Avionics Systems Engineer in Huntsville, AL, to join the Missile and Aviation Solutions Division. You will lead systems engineering activities across flight vehicles, interface with program management and design engineers, and develop MBSE models to support MBSE activities.

You should have a strong defense background, ABET‑accredited degree, and hands‑on test experience. Expect collaboration with multi‑disciplinary teams, and potential relocation to North Alabama.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent ABET-accredited degree with 4–8 years of experience or an MS with 2+ years.
• Strong technical background in defense systems or subsystems.
• Familiarity with Systems Engineering-based requirements development, derivation, and test planning, preferably for flight systems.
• Experience with software and/or hardware architecture and interface design.
• Hands‑on experience developing, documenting, and executing test processes for flight systems.
• Ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams and lead engineers.

Responsibilities

• Develop tailored Systems Engineering artifacts from customer needs for DoD programs.
• Interface with program management and design engineers to support system engineering across the design life cycle.
• Develop a Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) model for flight systems.
• Lead design reviews and document interfaces, traceability and test planning.
• Oversee avionics software and hardware design within flight vehicle avionics subsystems.
