RTX’s Collins Aerospace Core Systems & Libraries team in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Software Engineer II to design and support core software components for avionics platforms. You will collaborate across lifecycles with engineers, program leadership, and customers to deliver certifiable software that meets civil and military standards.

The role emphasizes DO-178 workflows, architecture development, and certification artifacts.

Qualifikationen

• Requires degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 2+ years of relevant experience or advanced degree.
• U.S. citizenship is required to access information under this program/contract.
• Experience designing and developing software architecture, libraries, or platform‑level components in aerospace or safety‑critical environments.
• Experience with DO-178 software development and certification activities (requirements, verification, artifacts).

Aufgaben

• Develop architecture and design of core software components, libraries, and tooling for avionics systems.
• Drive technical direction across development and verification activities for safety‑critical software (DO-178).
• Develop software requirements, decomposition, and traceability for complex systems.
• Develop and verify software using modern C++ and OO design.
• Create DO-178 certification artifacts, including DAL‑A deliverables.
• Lead certification activities with customers and regulatory authorities.
• Conduct peer reviews to ensure quality and compliance across the lifecycle.
• Collaborate with engineering, program leadership, and customers to align solutions with program goals.
• Travel domestically and internationally (<10%).
