Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an Avionics Mechanical Design & Analysis Engineer III in our Core Systems & Components team. You will own ruggedized enclosures and mechanical systems for spacecraft avionics, driving from concept through flight release while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

You will apply GD&T, perform thermal and structural analyses, and shape environmental test campaigns. A TS clearance is required, with SCI access preferred, and the role offers growth in a high-stakes

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 5+ years in avionics packaging or aerospace hardware.
• Active Top Secret security clearance is required; SCI access preferred or eligible.
• Experience owning mechanical designs through full lifecycle from requirements to production.
• Strong 3D CAD skills (Creo/Pro-E a plus) and good GD&T knowledge (ASME Y14.5).
• Experience integrating PCBAs, connectors, and cable/harness into mechanical assemblies.
• Knowledge of ruggedized electronics design including thermal, vibration, EMI/EMC, and vacuum.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate risk in a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

• Own complex avionics packaging assemblies across full lifecycle from requirements to production.
• Collaborate with electrical, systems, thermal, structures, manufacturing, and quality teams.
• Lead thermal, structural, vibration, and fatigue analyses and trade studies.
• Deliver models, drawings, specs, and release packages with configuration control.
• Apply GD&T to enable manufacturing, assembly, and inspection.
• Shape environmental test campaigns end-to-end and review data for root causes.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead design reviews with suppliers.
