Job summary

Saab is seeking 3rd shift Structural Assemblers in West Lafayette, IN to build the aft fuselage for the T-7A Red Hawk and to train new team members at Saab’s Aerospace structures training academy. Start date expected early December 2026.

Responsibilities include assembly, testing, and continuous improvement within a team environment. Selected candidates will earn a starting hourly rate of $23–$25, plus a 3rd shift premium of $2 per hour, with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant assembly or hand tool experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to select and safely use appropriate hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain consistent quality.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks, including bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and gripping.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Execute standardized working procedures to deliver 100% quality according to requirements to install systems and final assembly on the aircraft fuselage.
• Deliver work according to quality requirements and work instructions; implement the requirements in daily ways of working in a team-based environment.
• Support daily, incremental continuous improvement highlighting advancement opportunities in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale.
• Ability to complete functional testing of assemblies and systems.
• Handling of “Class A” surfaces which includes touch-up painting.
• Sign off when work is complete according to specification.
• Support the training and transfer of knowledge to new employees.
