Job summary

Saab in West Lafayette, IN, is hiring 3rd shift Structural Assemblers to build the aft fuselage for the U.S. Air Force T-7A Red Hawk. This role includes assembling aircraft structures, mentoring new team members, and training in Saab's aerospace production system.

Start date anticipated for early December 2026. Compensation starts at an hourly rate of $23–$25 with an additional $2 per hour shift premium. Qualified candidates must meet strict citizenship and drug-free workplace requirements and

Qualifications

2+ years of relevant assembly or hand tool experience.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Ability to select and safely use appropriate hand and power tools.
Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain consistent quality.
Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks, including bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and gripping.
Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

Execute standardized working procedures to deliver 100% quality according to requirements to install systems and final assembly on the aircraft fuselage.
Deliver work according to quality requirements and work instructions; implement the requirements in daily ways of working in a team-based environment.
Support daily, incremental continuous improvement highlighting advancement opportunities in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale.
Ability to complete functional testing of assemblies and systems.
Handling of 'Class A' surfaces which includes touch-up painting.
Sign off when work is complete according to specification.
Support the training and transfer of knowledge to new employees.
