Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc. seeks an experienced Aviation Project Engineer to contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of aviation infrastructure projects.

You will work with project managers, staff, clients, and subconsultants to provide high‑quality engineering solutions, potentially leading design efforts and coordinating multidisciplinary teams. The role requires a PE license in PA or OH (or reciprocity) and 8–15 years in aviation engineering, with strong knowledge of FAA

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET‑accredited program is required.
  • Professional Engineer license in Pennsylvania or Ohio, or ability to obtain licensure by reciprocity.
  • 8–15 years of progressively responsible experience in aviation engineering, airport design, or related infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with airfield projects, including apron, taxiway, or runway rehabilitation or reconstruction.
  • Working knowledge of FAA Advisory Circulars, airport design standards, and federally funded airport projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support or lead the design of aviation infrastructure projects, including airfield, landside, utility, and site development improvements.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, plans, specifications, reports, cost estimates, and bid documents.
  • Coordinate with project team members, clients, agencies, and subconsultants.
  • Participate in planning, design development, interdisciplinary coordination, constructability reviews, and quality control activities.
  • Assist with evaluating alternatives and developing practical engineering solutions.
  • Manage assigned tasks and support delivery of projects within schedule, budget, and quality constraints.
  • Attend client meetings and collaborate with stakeholders throughout project development.
  • Apply FAA standards, client requirements, and industry best practices in project design.
