Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer - SME (Telecom-East) in Florida to lead NAS‑oriented system design, integration, and migration from TDM to IP networks. You will mentor field teams while handling hands‑on tasks and coordinate with hardware and software engineers across multi‑state deployments.

The role emphasizes deep networking expertise (BGP/TCP/IP/MPLS/IPv6) and fiber optics, with 100% local travel to FAA facilities.

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance is required.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field (4 additional years of relevant experience can be accepted in lieu of degree)
12+ years of hands‑on experience in telecommunications network engineering, circuit integration, or infrastructure planning.
Deep technical command of BGP, TCP/IP, MPLS, and IPv6, specifically telecommunications infrastructure for TDM-to-IP conversion.
Hands‑on experience with optical networking (fiber), telecom network infrastructure hardware, server‑level deployments, testing, validation and acceptance.
Proven ability to model network growth and optimize capacity during large‑scale system upgrades.
Telecommunications infrastructure experience with ground networks, air to ground systems and technologies.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, integration, and testing of NAS‑supporting systems; turn early architecture drawings into working IP network solutions; provide clear technical directions and own tasks.
Direct the full life cycle of network infrastructure and software projects; migrate TDM circuits to IP‑based systems with smooth cutovers and testing.
Assess requirement documents and communicate necessary design changes to hardware and software teams.
Provide hands‑on infrastructure support with network protocols and server‑level hardware to resolve bottlenecks during deployments.
Use dashboards and KPIs to verify reliability and resilience of new fiber installations for mission‑critical aviation data.
Provide clear, actionable status updates and briefings to stakeholders and senior leadership.
