Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer - SME (Telecom-West) to lead NAS-related fiber/IP integration projects and guide a West Service Area field team. You will mentor, while also performing hands-on work to move legacy copper (TDM) to modern fiber/IP, ensuring secure, high-performance deployments.

You will work on a 100% local travel requirement to FAA facilities, focusing on NAS modernization with multi-state coordination and strong collaboration with hardware/software teams.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field (4 additional years of relevant experience can be accepted in lieu of degree).
• 12+ years of hands-on experience in telecommunications network engineering, circuit integration, or infrastructure planning.
• Deep technical command of BGP, TCP/IP, MPLS, and IPv6, specifically telecommunications infrastructure for TDM-to-IP conversion.
• Hands-on experience with optical networking (fiber), telecom network infrastructure hardware, server-level deployments, testing, validation and acceptance.
• Proven ability to model network growth and optimize capacity during large-scale system upgrades.
• Telecommunications infrastructure experience with ground networks, air to ground systems and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, integration, and testing of systems that support the NAS; turn early architecture drawings into working IP network solutions; provide clear technical directions and own tasks.
• Direct the full life cycle of network infrastructure and software projects, from planning through deployment; manage migration of TDM to IP with cutovers and testing.
• Assess requirement documents and communicate design updates to hardware and software engineering teams.
• Work directly with network protocols and hardware to resolve bottlenecks during multi-state deployments.
• Use dashboards and KPIs to verify reliability and resilience of new fiber installations and analyze performance trends.
• Provide clear, actionable status updates, dashboards, and briefings to stakeholders and senior leadership.
