Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer - SME to mentor field teams and lead the integration of fiber and IP-based networks across the NAS. You will guide the modernization of legacy copper (TDM) systems to fiber/IP, ensuring robust performance and security.

The role focuses on hands-on deployment, validation, and coordination with hardware/software teams, with travel to FAA-related facilities. A strong background in telecom networking and project execution is essential.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field (4 additional years of relevant experience can be accepted in lieu of degree)
• 12+ years of hands-on experience in telecommunications network engineering, circuit integration, or infrastructure planning.
• Deep technical command of BGP, TCP/IP, MPLS, and IPv6, specifically telecommunications infrastructure for TDM-to-IP conversion.
• Hands-on experience with optical networking (fiber), telecom network infrastructure hardware, server-level deployments, testing, validation and acceptance.
• Proven ability to model network growth and optimize capacity during large-scale system upgrades.
• Telecommunications infrastructure experience with ground networks, air to ground systems and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, integration, and testing of NAS-supporting systems from architecture drawings to working IP network solutions.
• Direct the full lifecycle migration of TDM circuits to IP-based systems with smooth cutovers and thorough testing.
• Assess requirement documents and communicate necessary design changes to hardware and software teams.
• Provide hands-on infrastructure support with network protocols and server hardware during multi-state deployments.
• Use dashboards and KPIs to verify NAS fiber installations meet reliability and resilience standards.
• Provide clear status updates and briefings to stakeholders and senior leadership.
