Peraton is shaping the future of aviation by advancing NAS modernization under the FAA BNATCS contract. The Systems Integration Engineer – SME Telecommunications Team East will support 100% local travel to FAA facilities in the region and help move legacy copper (TDM) to fiber and IP networks.

You’ll mentor the West Service Area team, manage technical integration, oversee migrations, validate systems, monitor performance, and communicate with leadership.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field (4 additional years of relevant experience can be accepted in lieu of degree)
• 12+ years of hands‑on experience in telecommunications network engineering, circuit integration, or infrastructure planning.
• Deep technical command of BGP, TCP/IP, MPLS, and IPv6, specifically telecommunications infrastructure for TDM-to-IP conversion.
• Hands‑on experience with optical networking (fiber), telecom network infrastructure hardware, server‑level deployments, testing, validation and acceptance.
• Proven ability to model network growth and optimize capacity during large‑scale system upgrades.
• Telecommunications infrastructure experience with ground networks, air to ground systems and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, integration, and testing of NAS-supporting systems; translate architecture into IP network solutions; provide clear technical directions.
• Direct migration of TDM circuits to IP-based systems; ensure smooth cutovers, circuit activation, and thorough testing.
• Assess requirement documents; communicate design changes to hardware and software teams.
• Provide hands‑on support with network protocols and server‑level hardware to resolve bottlenecks.
• Use dashboards and KPIs to verify fiber installations meet reliability and resilience standards.
• Deliver clear status updates, dashboards, and briefings to stakeholders and senior leadership.
