Job summary

Buro Happold in New York City is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical and HVAC design on aviation projects and to guide a team to deliver high-quality solutions.

You will collaborate with clients, architects and engineers, producing detailed drawings, reports and specifications while ensuring compliance with codes and standards. A Senior MEP background, Revit proficiency, and PE are required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and HVAC.
• 5+ years of experience working on airport/aviation projects.
• Demonstrated ability to serve as the primary mechanical discipline lead on medium to large aviation projects.
• Demonstrated experience in a senior role within MEP for an architectural engineering consultancy.
• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or relevant degree.
• P.E., Professional Engineer.
• LEED AP accreditation preferred.
• Experience using Revit and computational analysis tools.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary mechanical discipline lead on medium to large aviation projects.
• Lead the design and technical specifications of mechanical and HVAC systems, ensuring quality output.
• Manage project resources, client relationships, and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and technically sound solutions.
• Guide graduates and other junior engineers through their professional development.
• Communicate directly with clients and maintain strong client relationships.
• Actively contribute ideas and innovative solutions across various projects.
• Ensure practices, policies, strategy, and services represent the client's best interests and comply with current legislation and building codes.
