Job summary

Buro Happold is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer – Aviation in Washington, DC. The role leads senior technical direction across complex aviation projects, mentoring teams and ensuring successful client outcomes.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of extensive Mechanical Engineering design experience in building services/construction.
• 10+ years in aviation with leadership of complex projects.
• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Understanding of building codes and mechanical design principles.
• FAA requirements, airport operations, and aviation best practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior leadership across complex aviation projects and multidisciplinary delivery.
• Oversee design coordination, drawings, specs, schedules and reports to high quality standards.
• Develop client relationships and support business development in aviation.
• Direct multiple projects, managing scope, budgets, schedules, and resources.
