Qualifications

  • Valid US driver's license is required.
  • Ability to pass an FAA/DOT drug test.
  • Experience in dispatching or similar operations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with scheduling and dispatching of aircraft and simulators.
  • Verify flight plans, monitor weather, and track aircraft.
  • Communicate with students and flight instructors on scheduling needs.
  • Open and close the Babka Aviation Learning center.
  • Assist with maintenance-related activities and aircraft squawks.
  • Support compliance with Safety Management System requirements.
  • Drive aviation shuttle vans as required.
  • Engage in continuous learning to enhance the Aviation Program.

Job description

Position Summary

The Aviation Dispatch & Operations Assistant supports dailyaviation operations by assisting with the scheduling and dispatchof aircraft and simulators while ensuring safe and efficient flightactivities. Working closely with the Dispatch Supervisor, this roleverifies flight plans, monitors weather, tracks aircraft, maintainsaccurate records, and coordinates scheduling with students,instructors, and staff. Additional responsibilities include openingand closing facilities, supporting maintenance coordination andaircraft reporting, assisting with hangar organization, andpromoting compliance with Safety Management System (SMS) standards.This position requires strong communication skills - includingradio communication with aircraft - proficiency in MicrosoftOffice, attention to detail, and the ability to multitaskeffectively in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist the Dispatch Supervisor in managing tasks related to thescheduling and dispatching of aircraft and simulators, as well asother dispatch operations-related responsibilities
  • Verify flight plans, review weather, track aircraft, maintainnecessary records, and provide reports as needed
  • Communicate with students, flight instructors, and otheroperations staff on scheduling and dispatch needs and coordinateall related activities
  • Open and close the Babka Aviation Learning center and other UDfacilities
  • Assist with the coordination of maintenance-related activitiesand squawking of aircraft with the aviation maintenance staff
  • Wing watch if needed and coordinate stacking of aircraft inhangars
  • Support the Director of Aviation Safety to ensure compliancewith SMS requirements
  • Drive the aviation shuttle vans as required
  • Engage in life-long learning and scholarship opportunities tocontinuously enhance the Aviation Program and the furtherance ofits safety culture
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University'smission
Position Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively via radio with aircraft, aswell as through verbal and written communication
  • Exceptional skills using Microsoft Office and other computersoftware
  • Ability to remain seated at a workstation for extended periodsof time
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent Required

  • Basic computer skills and working knowledge of the MicrosoftOffice suite are preferred
