Job summary

UMBC's AV Design & Engineering Project Specialist drives upgrade and upkeep of classrooms and meeting spaces, serving as the primary installation technician and site foreman for in-house AV projects. The role mentors AV Installation Student Technicians and assists in project management and design to improve campus educational experiences.

The position supports DoIT, with hybrid telework options, and offers a competitive salary and generous benefits as described by UMBC.

Qualifications

Two years of experience in AV technology installation and support in an educational environment.
Two years of experience in the use of hand and power tools in a commercial setting.
One year of experience in leading student teams.
One year of experience in advanced AV troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

Serve as primary installation technician and site foreman for all DoIT-led audio/visual installations in accordance with UMBC standards.
Assist in configuration and programming of AV systems.
Coordinate with Facilities Management and other DoIT groups in upgrades of campus spaces.
Provide advanced troubleshooting and respond to Tier 2/3 service requests.
