Job summary

Macomb-Community-College is seeking an AV support technician to perform setup, diagnostics, and on‑site repair of classroom audiovisual systems. You will schedule requests, monitor performance with Extron Global Viewer, and respond quickly to outages or urgent needs during events and meetings.

You will assist with installations, operate power tools, and triage tickets with clear problem descriptions. Training for new part‑time staff is also part of the role.

Qualifications

• Two years direct experience with general audio-visual equipment and configuring PCs to interface with AV equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting and simple repair of audiovisual equipment and classroom mediated systems.
• Schedule and fulfill AV equipment & services requests using the college’s booking system within SLA.
• Monitor AV systems performance using Extron Global Viewer and schedule preventative maintenance.
• Set up and operate AV systems at events requiring special or standalone support.
• Deliver/set-up temporary AV systems with little notice when permanent systems fail.
• Assist with installations using power tools such as cordless drills and saws.
• Assist with diagnostics using voltmeters, signal analyzers, signal generators and a laptop.
• Use a ticketing system to describe problems and resolutions and triage appropriately.
• Assist training of new hire part-time employees in the department.
• Other audiovisual related duties as assigned
