Job summary

Rivian Automotive is seeking a Vehicle Operator Specialist in San Francisco, CA, to lead driver training, oversee field testing, and manage ground support and data handling for Autonomy Systems Validation. You will serve as on-shift floor lead, coach operators, and ensure safety and testing quality.

Responsibilities include training, real-time coaching, vehicle prep, inspections, data offloading, and end-of-shift reporting across prototype tests. 1st shift availability is required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional automotive driving, autonomous vehicle testing, or fleet ops experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, coaching, written, and verbal communication; ability to give constructive feedback.
• Proven ability to maintain high focus while monitoring autonomous systems for 6–8 hours daily.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and stay active on shop floors and testing sites.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% for off-site testing campaigns and to work overtime or non-standard shifts.
• Proficiency with laptops, smartphones, and enterprise collaboration tools (Google Docs, Sheets, Maps).

Responsibilities

• Operator Training, Coaching & Mentorship: onboarding, hands-on driving and safety instruction for new vehicle operators.
• Ground Support & Fleet Operations: shift handovers, route assignments, vehicle allocations, inspections, and data logging.
• System Diagnostics & Technical Escalation: basic diagnostics, OTA updates, ticketing, and engineering escalation.
• Must be able to work 1st Shift (6:00a - 2:30p).
