Job summary

Rivian seeks a Vehicle Operator Specialist to support autonomous systems validation, driver training, and ground logistics. You will lead floor operations, prep vehicles, and coach operators to uphold top safety standards on test drives and field campaigns.

You will oversee data offload, shift handovers, and routine inspections while ensuring compliance with testing protocols and safety requirements in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional automotive driving, autonomous vehicle testing, or vehicle fleet operations.
• Excellent interpersonal, coaching, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to drive 6–8 hours per day overseeing autonomous systems.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stay active across shop floors and test sites.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% for field testing; overtime and non-standard shifts as needed.
• Proficiency with laptops, smartphones, and enterprise tools (Google Docs, Sheets, Maps).

Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on driving and safety instruction for new vehicle operators.
• coach operators on disengagement protocols, defensive driving, and test procedures.
• Guide standard workflows, logging, software flashing, and vehicle prep.
• Operate prototype test vehicles across conditions for up to 8 hours daily.
• Perform pre/post-trip inspections and track vehicle health and maintenance.
• Manage data offloading and secure transfer for engineering analysis.
• Submit post-drive reports and safety feedback.
