Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Vehicle Operator Specialist in San Francisco to lead hands-on testing and operator training for autonomous systems validation. You will supervise driver prep, data offloading, and shift handovers while coaching operators to maintain top safety standards on diverse test routes.

You will operate prototype vehicles across public roads and test tracks, oversee ground support and fleet operations, and document post-drive reports for engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional automotive driving, autonomous vehicle testing, or vehicle fleet operations with coaching or training experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, coaching, written, and verbal communication skills to provide constructive feedback.
• Proven ability to maintain focus while monitoring autonomous systems for 6–8 hours daily in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and be active across shop floors and test sites.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% for off-site testing and flexibility for non-standard shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Operations Coordinator in preparing training materials and delivering hands-on driving and safety instruction for new vehicle operators.
• Provide real-time coaching on disengagement protocols, defensive driving, and test procedures to maintain safety standards.
• Guide operators on standard workflows, logging procedures, software flashing methods, and vehicle prep standards.
• Act as the primary on-shift floor contact for driver questions and promote a culture of continuous learning.
