Job summary

DoorDash Labs is seeking an experienced operator to lead live testing, deployment, and operational validation of autonomous technologies. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and operations, ensuring safe deployment and thorough evaluation, with actionable feedback to engineering teams.

You will partner with hardware, software, and business operations teams, develop testing protocols, and mentor junior teammates while driving operational excellence in dynamic environments.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in autonomous vehicle, robotics, or complex systems testing within a live operational environment.
• Strong technical judgment and ability to troubleshoot complex system behaviors in dynamic real-world scenarios.
• Experience partnering with engineering teams to investigate issues and influence product improvements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to document findings and present recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experience using Linux, GitHub, Jira, Jenkins or similar tools to investigate issues and track work through resolution.
• Proven ownership, leadership, and ability to mentor junior team members while driving operational excellence.
• Comfort working in ambiguous environments with evolving processes and a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee live testing across transport, deployment, and safety validation.
• Partner with hardware, software, and business operations teams to validate new product capabilities and mentor junior team members.
• Conduct and document complex tests for autonomous technologies, evaluate robot behavior, identify issues, and provide actionable feedback to engineering teams.
• Exercise technical judgment during live testing to distinguish expected behavior from defects and decide on escalation.
• Develop and implement testing processes, protocols, and checklists to improve safety and reliability of new products.
• Analyze logs, investigate issues, document findings, and track issues through resolution; mentor others in debugging practices.
• Prepare detailed analyses and reports identifying trends and providing strategic recommendations to engineering and operations.
