DoorDash Labs in San Francisco is seeking an experienced technical operator to lead live testing, deployment, and validation of autonomous technologies. You will work at the intersection of engineering and operations to ensure safe deployment and provide actionable feedback.

You will mentor junior team members, develop testing protocols, and analyze complex system behavior to drive product improvements in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in autonomous vehicle, robotics, or complex systems testing in a live environment.
• Ability to exercise sound technical judgment and troubleshoot complex system behaviors.
• Experience partnering with engineering teams to investigate issues and influence product improvements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experience using Linux, GitHub, Jira, Jenkins to investigate issues and track work.
• Demonstrated ownership, leadership, and mentoring of junior team members.
• Comfort in ambiguous environments with evolving processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee live testing across transport, deployment, and safety validation.
• Partner with hardware, software, and operations teams to validate product capabilities and mentor juniors.
• Conduct and document complex tests, evaluate robot behavior, identify issues, and feedback to engineering.
• Assess operational risk and distinguish expected behavior from defects, escalation when needed.
• Develop testing processes, protocols, and checklists to improve safety and reliability.
• Analyze logs, document findings, and track issues through resolution with mentoring.
