Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to lead MBSE-driven systems engineering for unmanned systems. You will decompose requirements, develop architectures, and collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and integration teams across the full V-model.

Responsibilities include interface management, trade studies, verification planning, and supporting design reviews. Travel up to 10% may be required as part of customer engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• 5+ years of relevant experience architecting, modifying, and supporting complex systems, preferably defense and/or aerospace systems.
• Strong initiative, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using SysML and Cameo Enterprise Architect / Cameo Systems Modeler.
• Experience with requirements management tools (preferably Jama).

Responsibilities

• Develop system, subsystem, and component requirements specifications including decompositions, derivations, allocations, and traceability.
• Perform functional analysis and contribute to system architecture using MBSE methods.
• Support interface control documents and artifact creation.
• Contribute to trade studies and analyses (performance, cost, schedule, risk).
• Support verification and validation planning, test planning, and test execution.
• Engage in customer discussions and participate in design reviews.
• Travel up to 10% for meetings, reviews, and tests.
