Job summary

Harmattan AI in Texas is seeking a Software Test & Validation Engineer to design automated tests and pipelines for SITL/HITL flight software. You will build test coverage for new platforms, analyze flight telemetry, and deliver actionable signals to engineering teams.

The role requires strong Python, system-level thinking, and comfort with CI/CD tooling. Some exposure to C++, drones or robotics is a plus, and you will join a fast-scaling validation team driving autonomous defense systems.

Qualifications

• Background in software engineering, embedded systems, mechatronics, aerospace, or a closely related field.
• Strong Python for test tooling and automation (C++ is a plus).
• System-level thinking and an ability to grasp a whole architecture.
• Experience with CI/CD tooling (Docker, Jenkins/GitLab CI).
• Experience with simulation (SITL/HITL) and telemetry capture/analysis.

Responsibilities

• Test design & content: Define scenarios that catch real bugs and turn metrics into stable pass/fail signals.
• Drive and improve the SITL/HITL environment and feed back improvements to improve realism.
• Automation & tooling: Build Python tools to load, parse and analyze test outputs and detect regressions.
• CI/CD integration: Integrate simulation and hardware tests into the CI pipeline for fast, reproducible validation.
• Onboard new systems: Build test scenarios and coverage for new platforms.
• Telemetry & replay: Capture flight/test telemetry and make it replayable and analysable.
