Job summary

Pep Boys in San Diego is seeking a role at the service desk where you engage customers, upsell parts and services, and manage transactions. You will perform vehicle inspections, schedule appointments, and support management with daily operations on the store floor and at the register.

The position emphasizes customer service, basic automotive knowledge, and availability to work varied shifts, including weekends. Compensation includes hourly pay plus sales commissions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• 1 year of related experience in automotive service.
• 1 year of sales experience preferred.
• Basic math skills for commissions and discounts.
• Strong verbal and customer service skills.
• Availability to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• First point of contact for customers on the phone and in the store, selling parts and service.
• Manage service work orders and register transactions; inspect vehicles.
• Assist management with customer care, opening/closing procedures, and Outside Purchase (OP) ordering.
• Follow policies on cash, credit, refunds and returns; address issues.
• Perform express automotive services (oil changes, tire work, etc.).
• Maintain safety procedures and proper service procedures.
• Partner with Management to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
• Communicate effectively with all associates, management and customers.
• Open/close responsibilities; keep shop organized and neat.
• Adhere to policies, safety and environmental rules.
• Other duties as assigned.
