Job summary

Wood City Motors, a Ford + CDJR dealership in Cloquet, MN, seeks a Service Manager to lead from the front, back the crew, and ensure customer care every time. You will hire and mentor advisors and technicians, oversee budgets and KPIs, and maintain quality control across repairs and parts operations.

The role requires strong automotive knowledge, leadership, and communication skills, with in-person work Monday through Friday at our Cloquet site.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of supervisory experience in the auto industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Staff & Workflow Management: Hire, train, schedule, and mentor service advisors and repair technicians.
• Customer Service & Relations: Address escalated inquiries, explain repairs, and resolve complaints.
• Financial & Budget Oversight: Prepare and manage budgets, payroll, and department expenses.
• Operations & Quality Control: Inspect repairs, minimize reworks, manage parts inventory, ensure safety and warranty compliance.

We need a Service Manager who leads from the front, backs the crew, and takes care of the customer every single time. Wood City Motors is a Ford + CDJR Dealership in the heart of Cloquet, MN and we are looking to add a Service Manager to our growing team!

Core Duties & Responsibilities

• Staff & Workflow Management:
  • Hire, train, schedule, and mentor service advisors and repair technicians.
  • Assign daily repair tasks, monitor technician productivity, and manage shop workflow.
• Customer Service & Relations:
  • Address escalated customer inquiries, explain repair recommendations, and resolve complaints.
  • Build long-term client trust to drive repeat business and positive reviews.
• Financial & Budget Oversight:
  • Prepare and manage operating budgets, payroll, and department expenses.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) like average repair order (ARO) and labor efficiency.
• Operations & Quality Control:
  • Inspect completed repairs for quality and minimize reworks or 'comebacks'.
  • Coordinate parts ordering and inventory management with the parts department.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards (OSHA, EPA) and warranty policies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Technical Knowledge:
  • Strong understanding of automotive repair, diagnostics, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) and warranty guidelines.
• Leadership & Management:
  • Proven ability to coach, delegate, and manage multi-person teams.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle high-stress environments.
• Communication & Software:
  • Clear verbal and written skills to translate technical car issues into simple terms for customers.
  • Proficiency in service management, scheduling, and digital diagnostic software.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in the auto industry preferred
