Job summary

ManpowerGroup is seeking an Automotive Requirements Engineer for our client, a leading automotive innovator in Auburn Hills, Michigan. You will join the Product Development Department to define and govern vehicle feature requirements and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate has a BS in engineering, 1–5 years in automotive product development, strong communication, and knowledge of ISO 26262.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical/Mechanical/Software/Systems Engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• 1–5 years of automotive product development experience incl. requirements definition and lifecycle management.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to explain technical content to non-technical audiences.
• Knowledge of automotive systems engineering, functional decomposition, and ISO 26262.
• Proficiency with MS Office and ability to analyze data to support feature decisions.

• Define, author, maintain, and govern vehicle feature requirements.

• Ensure requirements align with milestones, standards, and safety regulations.

• Define, author, maintain, and govern vehicle feature requirements supporting current and future vehicle programs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Planning, Engineering, Systems Engineering, HMI, Software, Hardware, and Validation to translate customer needs into clear, testable requirements.
• Ensure requirements are aligned with corporate milestones, standards, and safety regulations.
• Facilitate requirement reviews, resolve gaps, and manage dependencies across global stakeholders.
• Maintain bidirectional traceability from customer needs through to validation requirements and manage requirement changes effectively.

What's Needed?

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Software, or Systems Engineering or an equivalent from an ABET accredited university.
• One to five years of automotive product development experience, including requirements definition and lifecycle management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical content to non-technical audiences.
• Knowledge of automotive systems engineering, functional decomposition, and industry standards such as ISO 26262.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite and ability to gather and analyze data from various sources to support feature decisions.
