Job summary

The Pep Boys Manny Moe & Jack of California is seeking a Service Consultant to engage customers on the phone and in-store, schedule appointments, and help drive tire, maintenance, and repair services. You will manage transactions at the register, assist with work orders, and promote parts and service to keep customers’ vehicles running at peak efficiency.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and at least one year in automotive service or sales.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Driver's License.
• One year of related experience in the automotive service environment.
• One year of sales experience preferred.
• Must have basic knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions. Ability to apply mathematical formulas to calculate commissions and discounts.

Responsibilities

• First point of contact for customers by phone or in-store; engage customers, schedule appointments, build trust, understand needs, communicate processes and timelines, and upsell parts and service.
• Organize and manage service desk, register transactions, vehicle inspections, and knowledge of parts and services.
• Assist management with customer care, work orders, register assistance, facility maintenance, and Outside Purchase ordering.
• Follow cash, credit, check, refund and return policies; address customer service issues or opportunities.
• Conduct routine express automotive services, including tire mounting, balancing, rotations, oil changes, fluid top-offs, lubrications, filter and bulb replacements; battery tests.
• Enforce safety procedures and ensure wheel torque and fluid services follow SOPs.
• Collaborate with management to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
• Communicate effectively with associates, management, and customers; relay information accurately.
• In some locations, may perform opening/closing responsibilities as a secondary key carrier.
• Keep the shop organized and neat; adhere to all policies, safety and environmental rules.
• Other duties as assigned.
