Job summary

Beckhoff Automation USA is seeking a Field Service Engineer to sustain long-term customer success by keeping Beckhoff systems running, addressing complex field challenges, and building trusted relationships through reliable support.

The role involves on-site, remote, and training support, with 50% travel, collaboration with Sales and Application Engineering, and documenting recurring issues for scalable improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience.
• Experience designing, programming and troubleshooting systems based on TwinCAT and EtherCAT preferred.
• Comfort with basic configuration and troubleshooting of Unix-based operating systems.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, motion control, robotics, distributed I/O, fieldbus systems (EtherCAT), and HMI technologies.

Responsibilities

• Act as the strategic technical support contact within the region, working closely with teammates to help customers keep Beckhoff systems running reliably.
• Proactively drive technical issues to resolution through on-site support, hands-on troubleshooting, and remote diagnostics.
• Collaborate with regional field team to understand and assist in the execution of regional and territory strategies.
• Advise customers on maintenance, best practices, and product usage in real-world conditions.
• Document recurring issues and share actionable insights to strengthen internal support resources and product knowledge.
• As needed, assist with product trainings or onboarding in alignment with Beckhoff’s formal training programs.
