Job summary

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) is seeking a skilled Ctrl Systems Engineer / Automation Engineer to support an automated material handling environment for a major online retailer in the Edwardsville area. You will work with conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, and SCADA, driving reliability and performance improvements.

You will troubleshoot PLC/PC controllers (Allen Bradley), modify software, and coordinate with maintenance and operations to ensure safety and uptime.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree preferred with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
• 2+ years of experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programs.
• 2+ years of experience with robotics system components and controls.
• 2+ years of experience with SCADA systems.
• Ability to be available for flexible schedule including weekends/nights/holidays.
• Ability to independently solve problems with limited oversight.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment by complying with codes, regulations, and directives.
• Troubleshoot and modify software for material handling control systems (PLC/PC) including RSLogix 5000.
• Serve as first level escalation for on-site and remote troubleshooting, including after-hours emergencies.
• Inspect systems to ensure operation within design specs and client requirements.
• Oversee development scope, work requests, scheduling, and inspections by outside contractors.
• Engineer process solutions and reliability improvements from concept to implementation.
• Monitor industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, AS-I) and equipment metrics.
• Communicate with leadership and maintenance teams on issues and timelines.
• Facilitate analysis of failures and recommend improvements or retraining.
• Perform controls assessments to improve equipment reliability.
• Clearly communicate issues and timelines to site leadership and operations.
• Cultivate positive client and operations relationships.
• Perform other duties as needed.
