Job summary

CBRE seeks an Automation Engineer to join the Global Workplace Solutions team. You will support material handling equipment through PLC/PC controllers, Allen-Bradley platforms, and SCADA systems, while ensuring safe operation and performance.

As part of a controls group, you will troubleshoot, implement improvements, and coordinate with site teams to minimize downtime and maximize reliability. The role requires flexibility for varying shifts and on-call support.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree preferred with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
Experience in at least two engineering design cycles including specification, component selection and programming.
2+ years of experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programs.
2+ years of experience with robotics system components and controls.
2+ years of experience with SCADA systems.
Ability to be available and work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
Ability to independently solve problems with limited oversight.
Meet physical requirements of the role including lifting 50 lbs+.
Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to leadership and teams.

Responsibilities

Promote a safe working environment and comply with applicable codes and directives.
Troubleshoot and modify software for material handling control systems including PLC platforms.
Provide first level escalation in troubleshooting on-site and remotely, including after hours.
Inspect systems to ensure operation meets design and client conditions.
Oversee development, scheduling, and inspection of work by outside contractors.
Engineer process solutions and reliability improvements from concept to implementation.
Monitor industrial networks such as Ethernet, DeviceNet, Profibus, and servo drives.
Collaborate with site teams to resolve equipment electrical problems causing performance issues.
Communicate with stakeholders on timelines and production impacts.
Analyze failures and recommend improvements to prevent recurrences.
Perform controls assessments to maintain and improve reliability.
Communicate issues and product impacts to site leadership and teams.
Develop positive client and Operations Maintenance relationships.
