Job summary

CBRE is seeking an Automation Engineer in the United States to join our Global Workplace Solutions team. The role emphasizes improving and maintaining advanced automation systems, including conveyors, PLCs, SCADA platforms, and vision systems, to ensure uptime and safety across mission-critical facilities.

With 2–5 years of relevant experience, you will troubleshoot, program, and optimize control systems while collaborating with site teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred with 2–5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in at least two engineering design cycles including specification, component selection and programming.
• 2+ years experience with PLC programming, robotics components and controls, and SCADA-based monitoring and control systems.
• Ability to work flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
• Meet the physical requirements of this role including lifting heavy loads and being able to stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment by complying with codes, regulations, and safety directives.
• Troubleshoot and modify software for material handling control systems (PLC/PC), RSLogix 5000, and Controllogix platforms.
• Act as first level escalation in troubleshooting support on-site and remotely, including after hours.
• Inspect systems to ensure operation within design capabilities and meet client requirements.
• Oversee development scope, schedule, and inspection of work by outside contractors.
