Job summary

Tractor Supply Company is hiring an Automation Engineer to support the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of automated material handling systems across distribution centers.

You will partner with vendors, integrators, maintenance and operations to ensure safe, efficient material flow and drive code changes through structured workflows and change control. Strong PLC/HMI and data-analysis skills are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field is preferred.
• 1–3 years in automation, controls, or reliability in distribution/manufacturing.
• Experience with PLC/HMI (Siemens or Allen-Bradley) to read logic.
• Ability to implement minor parameter changes where permitted.
• Experience coordinating OEMs/integrators and closing technical tickets to measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Monitor automation health and drive performance reviews with site teams.
• Triage incidents, diagnose at a high level, and coordinate OEM/integrator tickets.
• Coordinate vendor interventions for code-level changes when access is restricted.
• Maintain documentation of system configurations, drawings, change logs, and SOPs.
• Serve as primary contact with OEMs/vendors and manage escalation paths.
• Collect fault data and validate fixes via test plans and acceptance criteria.
• Plan remote/on-site vendor interventions aligned with safety and ops windows.
• Build dashboards (OEE, throughput, flow rates) using data sources like PLC tags and CMMS.
• Support FAT/SAT, commissioning, and ramp activities.
• Draft user requirements and rollback plans for changes; coordinate cutovers.
