Job summary

Captech is seeking a mid-level Test Automation Engineer to join our Quality Engineering practice. You will design, build, and maintain automated test suites for web, mobile, and API-driven systems, working as an embedded member of cross-functional delivery teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–6 years of professional experience in software quality engineering, with at least two years focused on test automation.
• Hands-on experience with at least one modern UI automation tool such as Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, or Cypress.
• Working knowledge of API testing, including REST services, authentication patterns, and contract or schema validation.
• Experience integrating automated suites into a CI/CD pipeline and working with Git-based version control.
• Solid understanding of agile delivery, SDLC, and defect management workflows.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain testing decisions to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for web, mobile, and API layers.
• Build and extend reusable test frameworks using page object, data-driven, and BDD patterns.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for meaningful quality signals on each build.
• Collaborate with product owners and analysts to translate acceptance criteria into test scenarios.
• Triage failing tests, identify root causes, and distinguish defects from test/environment issues.
• Contribute to performance, accessibility, and security testing with specialist teams.
• Define and report quality metrics to technical teams and client leadership.
• Mentor junior engineers and client team members on automation practices and review standards.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and sprint planning, advocating for testability.
