Job summary

SpaceX in Memphis seeks a Data Center Safety Engineer (Automation) to oversee safety controls for high-density AI infrastructure. Lead arc-flash analysis, LOTO, grounding practices and risk assessments for power, cooling, and energy storage systems.

You will validate safety procedures, coordinate with electrical and facilities teams, and ensure compliance with NFPA/OSHA/IEC standards while supporting rapid deployment timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or related engineering field.
• Experience with electrical safety programs and arc-flash analysis is preferred.
• Knowledge of NFPA/OSHA/IEC standards is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Oversee arc-flash analysis, LOTO, and safe work practices on UPS, PDUs, switchgear, and generators.
• Conduct regular risk assessments of power systems and cooling infrastructure.
• Perform FMEA/HAZOP studies for critical systems.
• Ensure grounding, bonding, and power quality monitoring to prevent damage and injuries.
• Validate ATS and generator failover procedures from safety perspective.
• Monitor cooling risks and thermal runaway conditions.
• Establish safe operating limits for CRAC/CRAH and energy storage systems.
• Develop and drill emergency response plans for power loss and cooling failures.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA, OSHA, IEC and ISO 45001 standards.
